Max Chacón was trained in the Department of Electrical Engineering of our institution, where he received the title of Electrical Civil Engineer in 1984. He worked as a telecommunication engineer and as an academic in the Department of Electrical Engineering of the Universidad de la Frontera in Temuco. In 1989 he obtained the degree of Master of Science in Biomedical Engineering at the Federal University of Rio de Janeiro and in 1996 the degree of Doctor of Science in the same specialty and University. He has been a member of the Departmento de Ingeniería Informática at Universidad de Santiago de Chile since 1996. His main lines of research are related to data mining, medical informatics and models of physiological systems. He is currently a Full Professor and leads the Biomedical Informatics Lab.
