Leo Medina is Assistant Professor in the Departamento de Ingeniería Informática at Universidad de Santiago de Chile (Usach) since 2018. Previously, he worked as postdoctoral researcher at Universidad de Valparaíso, research associate and doctoral student at Duke University, where he was a Fulbright scholar, and R&D engineer at Universidad de Chile. He’s interested in applying engineering techniques to understand nervous system function and treat neural disorders. His computational models have contributed to understand how neurons respond to electrical stimulation, a technique that is being used to treat various diseases. In addition, he has experience on and is interested in image processing and machine learning. He’s passionate about his family and fútbol, and he prefers to commute by bike.
